PRELIMINARY CONFERENCE AGENDA - SESSION SUMMARIES
1. Air - Sea Rescue
Highlighting the operational and technological advances developed to meet the challenges of 24/7 all-weather search and rescue over water with particular focus on the Asia Pacific region.
2. Aerial Mountain Rescue
Spotlighting the global mountain aerial rescue conditions, operations experiences and A-SAR techniques generally employed in the Asia Pacific climates at relatively low to medium altitudes over terrain with steep cliffs, talus slopes and high peaks.
3 Air to Ground Search and Rescue
Identifying the valuable secondary A-SAR mission support provided by Police, Civil Protection and Air Ambulance operational experts.
4. Unmanned Urban Search and Rescue
Presentations identifying the differing UAV technologies and tactics deployed by ground units - Fire Services and Civil Protection - in urban disaster responses, particularly earthquakes, floods, industrial and CBRN/ HAZMAT disasters.
5. Aerial Search and Rescue Training and Simulation
Stressing the importance of classroom, simulator and helicopter flight training, winch training best practice and day and night
SAR techniques. Understanding search patterns, situational awareness in landing zone operations and recovery of a person when a helicopter cannot land. How to use aircraft data systems and
radar in search modes; How to operate with the other members of the aircrew as a single unit and best practice when planning A-SAR missions. Detailing the Night Vision Goggles (NVGs), Low-Level
Flight and Simulation training necessary for reasons of economy and efficiency.
6. International Operations
Highlighting those A-SAR operations carried out by expert civil and military Asia Pacific A-SAR operators deploying both fixed and/or rotary-winged aircraft, with increasing emphasis on long-range missions and interoperability.
