Aerial SAR Asia Pacific 2019 is the latest in Tangent Link’s SAR portfolio following in the contrails of its highly successful SAR International live conferences in France & UK since 2013. This event is honoured to be supported by AMSA-Australian Maritime Safety Authority.


Each year Australia’s search and rescue system saves an average of 2000 people from its seas, mountains and deserts and aviation plays a majority role in this record.


With some high-profile regional incidents as its motivation, this landmark A-SAR event will muster global aeronautical A-SAR experts from 20 countries to offer a unique observation of A-SAR relevant to both the in-land, riverine, coastal and blue-water A-SAR areas of operation in the vast and variable geographical topography that is Australia and the Asia Pacific.


Australia’s SAR jurisdiction spans its own continent and another 53 million square kilometres of the Indian, Pacific and Southern Oceans, constituting about 12% of the Earth's surface. This vast amount of space borders the search and rescue regions of 10 other countries. When then considering joint rescue operations by combining New Zealand's Search and Rescue region - which extends from the South Pole to the southern borders of Honolulu - one grasps the magnitude of the Air, Land and Maritime resources and expertise required by the Antipodes to prosecute their SAR mission.  Ultra Long-Range SAR becomes a reality.


No A-SAR operation is possible without the joint cooperation of national and regional Maritime Safety Authorities, Rescue Coordinations Centres, Defence Forces, Border Protection Commands, civil Air-Sea organisations, Emergency Medical helicopters, Police Air Services and trained Air Observers and strategically sited non-profit rescue helicopter services at bases around Australia & New Zealand.   



Aerial SAR Asia Pacific 2019 will review the latest national and international A-SAR management policies, provide Case Studies of recent A-SAR operations reviewing the lessons-learned, examine A-SAR operating procedures, demonstrate the latest A-SAR technologies, debate and discuss the questions in the minds of the world’s leading A-SAR exponents and deliberate over how the future may look.
